Learning Spinners

Help children practise their maths and vocabulary with these fun and easy group activities!

School Year: 1 (Addition Spinner), 4–7 (Vocabulary Spinner), 4–6 (Multiplication Spinner)

Subject: Maths (Addition/Multiplication), Language (Vocab)

Time: 1 hour (same for all)

Supplies

  • Downloadable Multiplication Wheel
  • Elmer’s® Disappearing Purple School Glue Stick (or any other Elmer’s glue)
  • Scissors
  • Foam board
  • Ice lolly sticks
  • Pushpin
  • Paper clip
  • Marker
  • Cup

Instructions

Download the multiplication wheel. Cut it out and glue it to a piece of foam board.

Place the paper clip near the centre. Push the pushpin through the opening of the paperclip and through the centre of the wheel, creating a spinner.

Use a marker to write numbers (1–9) on one end of the ice lolly sticks. If you don’t have enough for 9, that’s okay. Go up to whichever number you have.

Place the ice lolly sticks number side down into a cup.

Take turns drawing a stick out of the cup, then spinning the spinner.

Multiply the number on the ice lolly stick by the number that the spinner lands on.

Repeat! See how many problems everyone can answer correctly.

Now try your hand at these engaging learning spinners.
